So as I mentioned in my first post, the idea for this WECW project is to have my ‘army’ as a bit of a what if.
However I wanted to make it at least semi plausible.
A quick bit of rooting around tells me that Lord Brooke was a Parliament man
and he had a regiment in the Midlands as well as down London way, which suits
what I wrote about Andrew Stockton earlier, him being from Birmingham.
Lord Brooke was killed at the siege of Lichfield in March 1643 and his regiment seems to have been disbanded.
It seems the colours of his London regiment of foot was purple, which is quite unusual by all accounts and maybe his Midlanders also had fancy duds, or maybe not. With them being disbanded it seems records of their attire and so on was lost?
So Andrew Stockton was a part of his Midlands Regiment and
once it was disbanded he took his men and went a bit solo/rogue.
Not beyond the realms of possibility I reckon.
It suits my narrative and has an element of historical authenticity about it.
Good stuff.
Anyway, my figures arrived today and I have been busy filing and trimming and what not.
The weekend will see me fix the bases and build them up.
Some terrible pictures to give you an idea of what is what.

Excellent. Looking forward to seeing what you do with these and this project generally.

DeleteMe too, I have no idea.
I guess it is the opposite of my oldhammer project which is a locale and we will explore the comings and goings of the village, my Warm Ale and Mud is a static project, this however will be about us following the Free Company of Andrew Stockton around the English countryside.
So I guess it gives more freedom in terms of what can happen?
Only time will tell I guess.
I'm planning to finally kick off my 'campaign' stuff for my ImagiNation over the coming months as I will have more time. But I do need a plan...
DeleteA plan helps for sure.
DeleteWhen I was doing WFB in 10mm, it was just battles.
But then that grew boring and I decided to start making a village and wanted to tell the story of there.
But 10mm didn't quite have the details for it, hence starting the Warm Ale and Mud project.
Not sure what will happen with the ECW, but I am sure that by the time this is all painted something will have popped into my head.
Hopefully...
